Tree Growth Regulator

Environment Image

A tree growth regulator acts much like a hormone controlling the allocation of energy resources within the plant. The tree growth regulator recommended on this site will slow and reduce top growth, while promoting the development of the root system. This allows young trees to recover more quickly from transplanting by promoting a more rapid root establishment. This is also a valuable treatment for trees growing in areas with limited root zones due to planting bed size, or where top growth is or will be in close proximity to buildings, walks or roadways.

Controlling top growth will increase the intervals between pruning cycles to keep buildings, roads and sidewalks clear of obstructions. A side benefit of this tree growth regulator is the production of more plant defensive chemicals that improve the tree's ability to fend off insects and disease.

The treatment is applied at the base of the tree; either injected below the soil surface or poured into a shallow trench dug around the base of the tree. The effects of the tree growth regulator last approximately 3 years.
